Bisk, a worldwide leader in online education, has released a new survey of healthcare and IT professionals. The survey offers insights into job satisfaction in these industries, as well as attitudes on the future of both fields.
The survey took in responses from professionals working in the fields of healthcare, information technology and health informatics, an emerging field that uses IT to streamline and improve healthcare. The survey also took in responses from current, prospective and former students of the University of South Florida’s Master of Science in Health Informatics program, the only 100% online program of its kind taught through a medical school, USF Health’s Morsani College of Medicine.
The survey is especially valuable for the information it provides on professionals in the health informatics field. There still exists only a small amount of information on how health IT is seen by those on its front lines.
“Unfortunately, there is relatively little information available about the opinions and attitudes of health IT professionals. The Bisk survey begins to fill this void by reaching out to working professionals in the rapidly growing field of heath informatics” said Dr. Robert Deschenes, Senior Associate Dean, College of Medicine Molecular Medicine at USF Health.
Findings were segmented based on each respondent’s education level, gender, income and whether he or she had obtained additional certifications. In general, the survey found, health IT professionals are both satisfied with their current positions as well as optimistic about the field’s future.
Many of the responses came from attendees at the 2016 HIMSS Conference, held Feb. 29-March 4 in Las Vegas. Read more about the survey and its findings here.
